Ethics and Policies for Cyber Warfare discussed at the University of Oxford

The Workshop on Ethics and Policies for Cyber Warfare at Magdalen College, University of Oxford brought together speakers from all over the world. The event, organized by the NATO CCD COE in collaboration with the University of Oxford was tailored to have an interdisciplinary approach on the topic of cyber warfare. Therefore co-chairs Lieutenant Ludovica Glorioso of the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and Dr Mariarosaria Taddeo of Warwick University brought together a group of experts from the academia as well as the defence sector.

The topics discussed included whether the laws of armed conflict can be applied to cyber warfare, the ethical considerations of information warfare and how to apply the principle of proportionality to cyber targeting. A publication of the research is being planned for Phil. Studies, Springer series and a report as well as videos will be made available on the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence website soon.
