Scott Knight, CD, BEng (Royal Military College), MEng (Royal Military College), PhD (Queen’s University)

Scott Knight is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada.  Dr Knight was appointed to the academic faculty at RMC in 2000 on retirement from 21 years of service in the Canadian Air Force.  Although an Air Force pilot early in his career his later experience was focused on computer systems and network engineering.  During this time Dr Knight worked with the National Defence Intelligence and Security communities on the development of secure computing networks to be used for handling classified and national security related information.  He also spent time as a military faculty member at RMC where he founded the Computer Security Laboratory, and he continues to lead this research group in his present appointment.  This research group has a close working relationship with the Canadian Forces Information Operations Group and focuses on computer network defence and support to information operations.

Sylvain P. Leblanc, CD, B.Sc.(Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean), M.Eng. (Royal Military College of Canada), Ph.D. Candidate (Royal Military College of Canada), P.Eng.

Sylvain (Sly) Leblanc served for over 23 years as a Signals Officer with the Canadian Forces.  As a Signaller, he has served with the Special Service Force, including the Airborne Regiment Battle Group, and a variety of strategic and tactical communications units.  Retired from the Canadian Forces, he is now an Assistant Professor and a Ph.D. candidate in Software Engineering with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC).  He is a member of the RMC Computer Security Laboratory, and has a close research association with the Defence Research and Development Centre – Ottawa. His research interests are in Computer and Network Security, specifically in active network defence and computer network defence processes.
