Cooperative Cyber Defence
Centre of Excellence Tallinn, Estonia

FAQ

  • What are the Centre’s key activities?

Our primary client is NATO. The Centre’s first priorities are to provide insight, subject matter expertise, and assistance to NATO on various aspects of cyber defence. These have included input to concept development, training and exercises, publishing lessons learned, and the development of a legal framework for cyber defense.

  • What countries are currently participating in CCD COE activities?

There are now seven Sponsoring Nations: Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovak Republic and Spain. The U.S. and Turkey have announced their intent to join in the near future.  CCD COE is open to all NATO nations and may cooperate with other nations as Contributing Participants.

  • What key cyber defense challenges is CCD COE currently addressing?

Cyber defense is still an immature discipline. The technical challenges can be overwhelming, but they are compounded by the international nature of the Internet. CCD COE, as a multi-national organization, seeks to develop a wide range of cyber defense concepts, legal strategies, technical solutions, and more, all aimed at helping to further the goal of cooperative cyber defense.
