Spanish King Juan Carlos visited Cyber Defence Centre in Tallinn, Estonia

His Majesty the King of Spain Juan Carlos visited the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence in Tallinn accompanied by the President of Estonia Mr Toomas Hendrik Ilves and the Minister of Defence of Estonia Mr Jaak Aaviksoo.

The Head of State of Spain got aquainted with the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence situated in Tallinn. During the visit the King was presented the Core Areas of the Centre and the Spanish contribution to the Centre’s activities.

President of Estonia expressed his gratitude for Spanish contribution to the founding and continuous support to the everyday functioning of the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.

„Currently there is a strong international team working in the Centre to enhance the Cyber Defence capabilities of NATO and NATO nations. I’m glad to see two Spanish members in the Centre as the national contribution,” said the President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

Minister of Defence of Estonia brought out the growing importance of cyber defence on the international agenda. „Nations will become more dependent on cyberspace. We are very thankful to Spain for their support and work in the Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence,” said Mr Aaviksoo.

„Spain is one of the seven founding nations of the centre and an important contributor to the Alliances goals,” said the Director of the CCDCOE Lieutenant Colonel Ilmar Tamm. „Spain is one of the nations that has aknowledged the need for international cooperation in the field of cyber defence and is actively working to enhance the cyber defence capabilities,” added Tamm.

CCD COE is an International Military Organization (IMO), fully accredited by NATO’s North Atlantic Council on the 28th of October, 2008.  CCD COE is located in Tallinn, Estonia on the premises of Estonian Signals Battalion.
